My go-to’s in the morning!
Ever since I got a milk frother from Amazon on an impulse buy, I naturally had to experiment with it by making as many drinks as I could think of. It became addicting, and it became my favorite start to the morning.
Pictured below are some of my favorite random creations from my mornings! I brew my coffee over ice and pour about a quarter cup of almond milk into a separate cup. What I do with that separate cup of almond milk is where my fun comes in. I choose a new and random (sometimes questionable) ingredient to froth into the milk.
Some of what I have experimented with has turned into my all-time favorite coffee recipes, and some have honestly just made my throat hurt.
This drink comes in first place for my go-to morning drinks. With a chai latte base, it is blended with matcha and a (scary) abundance of caffeine. It is refreshing and smooth. This latte is never too much for any morning drink. I don’t like to eat or drink very boldly flavored things to start my morning, which is why this drink is perfect for me. For anyone that loves caffeine, this is a great option, as both the chai latte and matcha have high contents of caffeine. The first time I drank this I ran 6 miles for the first time ever so be careful!
I use:
*Risha Tea Everyday Matcha from Wegmans ($9.99)
*Oregon Chai - Chai Tea Latte from Wegmans ($4.49)
Peanut butter has since forever stolen every piece of my heart. When I was a child, I used to come home from school, grab a spoon and go to town a jar of peanut butter. It’s only fitting that one of my favorite coffee recipes currently incorporates peanut butter. For this recipe I froth 1/2 cup of almond milk with 1 tablespoon of peanut butter. Almond butter can also be used, it just adds more texture/particles floating around to the drink, so I’d recommend regular smooth peanut butter if you want a smoother drink. If I was allowed to have coffee as a kid, I would’ve made this every morning!
*If you like a sweeter coffee, use vanilla almond milk, or even add a little maple syrup to the mixture that is frothed!
I love the simplicity of this drink. No matcha powder getting all over the counter, or peanut butter sticking everywhere. All you need for this is half and half and maple syrup. You froth together the half and half and the desired amount of maple syrup. I use quite a lot since I like my drinks sweeter. Frothing together the half and half and the syrup can be a little tricky since they have vastly different densities, but it is SO worth it.
